1100Ltr Waste Container - The Oldest Swinger in Town

01-Feb-2008

PRESS RELEASE
1st February 2008

You wouldn’t normally use the term “The Oldest Swinger in Town” when talking about 1100litre Metal Containers but recently Newtownabbey Borough Council has had good cause to do just that!

Newtownabbey Borough Council has many Taylor waste containers in their district which are supplied by Sturdy Products Ltd. They recently noticed that one of their steel bins was an old model and decided to investigate its age. When the manufacturer, Taylor, identified the serial number it emerged that this particular bin was over 20 years old. It goes to show that the Taylor containers are manufactured to the highest standard and last the test of time.

Lisa Mayne, Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Recycling Manger, comments “We were surprised to find out how old the container was. Most waste receptacles of this type would last five years. It is a testament to the quality of the Taylor product that this container is still in perfect working order after all this time. All our waste and recycling containers in Newtownabbey Borough Council are frequently used and are subject to a lot of wear and tear. This makes it all the more impressive that the container has stood the test of time“.

To commemorate ‘Taylor’s oldest bin’, Sturdy Products Ltd awarded Newtownabbey Borough Council with the 1,000,000th bin to be produced by Taylor.  Hugh Kelly Director of Environment Services remarked “We were proud to receive, from Sturdy Products Ltd, the 1 Millionth container produced to honour our 20 year old ’performer’. There was still plenty of life left in the old bin but we decided to put it into retirement after years of impeccable service. The new container from Sturdy Products Ltd is designed in our council’s colours and logo and we are very happy with its fresh look. Hopefully this latest bin will be helping to keep Newtownabbey Borough Council clean and tidy 20 years from now”.

Emer O’Donnell Marketing Manager at Sturdy Products, who supply steel containers to the Irish market, always claims that the strength, durability and good looks of the Taylor container make it a winner. “Now we have The Oldest Swinger in Town this supports our claim”.
