Minister Roche Launches Underground Recycling System01-Feb-2005
Sturdy Products Ltd, based in Blessington Co Wicklow have brought Ireland into the 21stCentury in relation to the availability of recycling facilities.
Mr. Dick Roche T.D, Minister for the Environment, Heritage & Local Government recently launched Irelands first Underground Recycling System from Sturdy Products Ltd.
Minister Roche, in his speech at the launch said that this would be an extremely attractive system for developers of new housing estates as it provides a discreet and an aesthetically acceptable solution to large-scale disposal and containment of waste in built up areas. The system allows for the containment of up to 5 cubic meters of waste – the equivalent of 10ft cube below the surface – with only the disposal unit visible above ground.
Mr. John Hanlon – Managing Director at Sturdy Products Ltd said “although this type of underground recycling system is new to Ireland it is already extensively used in France, Belgium and Germany. It eliminates from the landscape unsightly recycling bottle banks and allowing for larger, more efficient collection of recycling materials. All that users see of he recycling bank is the posting units for glass or cans so it is much more discreet than conventional systems.”
